Starting Early

In order to build a solid structure, there must be a strong foundation. This applies to learning as well. If a child is unable to solve simple multiplication questions, it is impossible to teach him or her long division since it requires multiplication skill.

Parents should take an interest in their kid's education from young. Otherwise, it will be harder for the child to keep up with his or her peers when they grow up. This is especially so if the child has a vague understanding of earlier concepts.

If a child does not know that matter occupies space and has mass, he or she will have difficulty explaining why light and heat are non-matter. This poor understanding may go unnoticed until it is too late, being discovered only during Prelim or PSLE when all prior knowledge is tested.

It is easier to write on a clean sheet of paper instead of erasing and re-writing on one that has been written on. Hence, it is essential to take precautionary measures once there is a dip in results. If a child’s results continue to show no signs of improvement and nothing is done, more time will be needed later to enlighten the child for his or her results to show improvement.

Show concern early rather than have regrets later. Like the saying goes "Education reshapes destiny". Parents seal their child's fate based on the education choices parents make today.
