IS SMALL GROUP TUITION SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?
The answer is No.
Some students perform better under stress, some prefer a stress free environment. This means that individuals perform differently under similar circumstances. Likewise, not all students will learn best in small group tution.
Students who require alot of one-to-one attention will benefit less from group tuition. Students who have very weak fundamentals or hyperactive tends to belong to this group. They need a professional to have one-to-one supervision over them during studying.
As for most others, they do not require this kind of close supervision. Nonetheless, too huge a class may prove to be unfavorable in a student's learning because the bigger the class, the harder it is for a teacher to zero in on a single student. In other words, the smaller the student-teacher ratio, the more attention and guidance each student receives from a teacher.
However, it should be noted that human beings are social by nature. Hence, many tend to prefer studying in the company of peers. As the saying goes, "If you enjoy what you do, you will do well and results will come."
In addition, competition breeds improvement. This is another benefit small group tuition have over one to one tuition.
All in all, small group tuition is better since it allows the teacher to give your child more attention as compared to classroom setting while not removing the competitive edge found in conventional classroom environment. On top of that, they are surrounded by like-minded peers, thereby reducing the stress of having to attend additional lessons.
